Semi-Independent Services:

This service is available twenty four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, fifty two (52) weeks a year and provides short and long term Residential Placements for young people who may be unable or unwilling to live in their own community or other Care environments.

Emergency Placements are not provided for young people in crisis.
There may be some circumstances however, which necessitate a much more rapid admission of a child; this may be due to a child’s current placement becoming unsustainable, In these circumstances an assessment would be made as to the process which would be in the child’s best interests.

If following the normal time scales for admission to a Rite Directions Young People’s Services placement necessitated the child having to be moved to an interim short-term Emergency Placement then this would clearly not be in the child’s best interest.

Rite Directions Young People’s Services would therefore endeavour to admit the young people within 24 hours of the Referral.
Young people will be engaged in a structured programme that will enable them to develop social and life skills in a small setting, where there are consistent boundaries and realistic expectations.

We are also an ideal placement for young people who need that extra support before they experience independent living. In order to maximise the quality of care for our young people and their future prospects, we will work in partnership with their families and other agencies.
